The wild and scenic Tuckasegee River (“The Tuck”) runs through the heart of Jackson County and offers excellent catch-and-release fly fishing and a great swimming hole or two. Other sections of the river provide opportunities for paddling, kayaking, and drift-boat fly fishing.
Lake Glenville is just 15 miles south of The Cove and is known as one of the largest high-elevation lakes east of the Rocky Mountains. It boasts 26 miles of shoreline, 3 waterfalls and incredible views. Two marinas with boat rentals, a public beach and a public boat launch are all
located very close to The Cove.

Jackson County is home to hundreds of waterfalls, perhaps more than any other county in the United States. These waterfalls are an easy drive from The Cove. The local area has a wonderful climate with four distinct seasons. Summer offers a respite from the heat and humidity of Georgia and Florida (just ask all the folks with GA ad FL tags!). Winter will see some snow but generally is more temperate than other mountain areas. Fall is great
for foliage and spring brings out the Mountain Laurel and Rhododendrons. Check out the current weather.
